American Water Expands Military Business With $288 Million Deal

Jan. 10 (Bloomberg) -- American Water Works Co., the biggest publicly traded water utility in the U.S., won a $288 million water and wastewater contract at an Air Force base to expand services to 10 military installations.

The 50-year award to American Water’s Military Services Group for operations at the Hill Air Force Base in Utah complements related business the company provides at Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia; Fort Sill, Oklahoma; Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; Scott Air Force Base, Illinois; Fort Rucker, Alabama; Fort Meade, Maryland; Fort Belvoir, Virginia; Fort Hood, Texas; and Fort Polk, Louisiana, the company said in a statement.

American Water, based in Voorhees, New Jersey, has gained 13 percent the past year in New York trading compared with a 9 percent advance by the 20-member Bloomberg World Water Index.
