Aqua America to Spend $250 Million on Pennsylvania, Ohio Works

April 30 (Bloomberg) -- Aqua America Inc., the second- largest publicly traded water company in the U.S., said its Pennsylvania subsidiary plans to spend $230 million on infrastructure improvements statewide this year.

The replacement of aging water mains and water-related upgrades is a 6.5 percent increase over last year on the value of works completed by the utility for 1.4 million customers across Pennsylvania, Bryn Mawr-based Aqua America said today. Last week, Aqua America’s Ohio unit said it plans to invest almost $30 million on infrastructure across the state in 2014 for its 500,000 customers, up from $22 million a year earlier.
