May 27 (Bloomberg) -- American International Group Inc., the largest commercial insurer in the U.S. and Canada, had its outlook lifted to stable by Standard & Poor’s on the prospect that profit will climb and borrowing costs drop.

The outlook on the A- rating was raised from negative, “driven by stronger operating earnings and declining financial leverage,” S&P said today in a statement on the New York-based insurer.
