June 11 (Bloomberg) -- Alstom SA will supply 19 wind turbines to CPFL Energias Renovaveis SA, Brazil’s biggest renewable-energy producer, for its 51-megawatt Pedra Cheirosa project in the country’s northeast.

The turbines will be produced in Alstom’s unit in Bahia state, also in northeastern Brazil, the French builder of power plants and transmission equipment said today in a statement on its website. Alstom declined to inform the value and terms of the contract in an e-mailed response to questions.

“Alstom has perceived a strong increase in demand from the wind segment in Brazil,” the company said in the e-mail. “We are studying our entrance in other projects.”

CPFL Renovaveis, a unit of Brazilian power utility CPFL Energia SA, has about 719 megawatts of installed wind-power capacity and about 384 megawatts of projects under construction, according to its website.

The Pedra Cheirosa project is slated to start operations in 2018.
