The Bloomberg European 500 Index is a free float capitalization-weighted index of the 500 most highly liquid capitalized European companies. The index was developed with a base value of 120.33 as of December 31, 1996. Look at BE500E Index GRPS <GO> for the Economic Sectors. Index rebalances semi-annually in January and July.
Politics dominated global markets as the dollar weakened after the president-elect called the U.S. currency “too strong” and the pound rallied on British Prime Minister Theresa May’s plans to leave the European Union. Bonds advanced with gold.
